nesmele zacatky..
Meeting a new member of WoL has almost become a daily habit. Every new addition draws a smile upon our faces, since every week is interesting and characteristic in its own way, making it ever so hard for us to decide who to acknowledge for the Editor’s Choice today. In the end, we have chosen the ‘modest beginnings’ of Kateřina, who is yet to unfold her full name and we can hope to expect that her first week will not be her last, as that would be a real shame. Do not be fooled by the name of the week however. Despite that it is Kateřina’s first attempt of photographing her week, her beginnings are not at all modest. The appealing details hint at the presence of the author’s creativity and we can only remain eager and look forward to what she will surprise us with next.

It goes without saying that more heads put together more knowledge. This could certainly be applied to the range of our vision as well, as more eyes account for a broader perspective and wider scenery. And since one of the main aims of this project is to compare and contrast lives of people around the world, we highly value the dual insight of the Sucharda family. Both Juraj and Monika share their domesticity with us, each documenting it in their own personal way and often during the same time frame. It’s almost beyond belief to have the opportunity to see how family life is viewed through the eyes of a man and a woman. Today’s Editor’s choice belongs to Monika Suchardová and her new toy… a camera.

Denik ostravačky ostravske - Zemity květen
She named her first week ‘At least I’ll try…’ An initial attempt subsequently turned out as a journal and while listing through the pages, we were invited into the private life of an Ostrava native, full of a hearty dose of energy and vivacity. Today’s Editor’s Choice is dedicated to Šárka Lisníková and her sets, which – here, we would dare use the words of the comments to one of her weeks – ‘mature like grape-vines’. With utmost sincerity, we all enjoy tasting every sample she brings forth.

More and more lives are slowly but surely becoming overwhelmed by the Week of Life project. We can feel your increasing enthusiasm and dedication to documenting your lives and what you experience every day. The number of weeks is rising and you are collectively giving all of us the opportunity to get to know each other in better fashion and experience some sort of empathy. Today, we have picked Lubomír Budný for the Editor’s Choice. He has been entertaining us with his youthful attitude and life perspective for some time now and with every new week, he grows in correlation with the project.

Týden VIA LUCIS
The Week of Life project is based on Adolf Zika’s book named One Year of My life In 3285 Pictures, in which he documented a whole year of his life. Indeed, it wasn’t easy, but very well worth it. Hence, fingers crossed for Mr. Dvořák, who decided to follow the footsteps of Mr. Zika and started his own one-year document. We highly value this decision, as well his dedication to rules of the project, since they are not at all simple and we hope that he will not be discouraged by frequent everyday stereotypes and repetitive moments that will surely cross his path.
