With the first sunny days of fall, Week of Life welcomed another one of its newcomers, Petr Eliáš. And despite the beauty of such sundrenched days, ever so pleasant to the human eye, Petr has literally dazzled us with his photographs that resemble the time a few decades back, leaving us no other option than to select it for today’s Editor’s Choice. It’s dynamic, full of interesting details and above all, it has shown us the life of another inhabitant of our planet.

Miroslav Jarý has already submitted his 4th week and we can say in all conscience that with every new set, quality has gone up or at least stayed the same. Miroslav’s weeks are characteristic for their inclination to details of everyday life, as well as the specific toning of colors, creating a sense of drama and at the same time establishing a distinguishable style of the author.

Mila Stafek does not rank among the regular users of WoL, but when he does contribute it is definitely worth it. The same goes for his latest week called ‘Back and Forth.’ The name already suggests that you will keep looking at it over and over. Mila has his own style and shows us that besides riding the skateboard, he is proficient in the field of photography. There is not a single boring photograph and after going through the whole set you will realize that you’ve been injected with a dose of energy and optimism. And if, for instance, you wish to know what the word ‘bowl’ means, all the more reason to visit this week.

As we have mentioned in the past, thanks to the increasing number of WoL members joining from various parts of the world, we now have the option not only to compare different lifestyles, but also experience the diverse approaches to documenting life, adherent to the way an individual perceives life around him. For this very reason we were dazzled by the first week of Poteryaev Sergey, whose photographs are a little different with its rendering and color toning. We are more than happy that Sergey has shared his 7 days of life with us and eagerly await the next episode.

George Bednář and his week with a folklore trait not only enriches the project with quality images, but also perfectly highlights the contrast between the styles of life and forms of entertainment on the opposite sides of the Czech Republic. Despite the fact that this country belongs amongst the smaller ones on this planet, the differences between villages and cities are enormous. To this day, young villagers put on folk costumes during all sorts of events and festivals, whereas in the city, the successful live alongside the less fortunate, who for whatever reason ended up on the street and their daily ‘job’ involves open palms waiting for that coin to drop in.
