3x3 | Seznamte se ..
For some time now, we haven’t chosen a newcomer for the Editor’s Choice. Today, Jan Dvorak broke this trend with his first week called 3x3 | Get acquainted. We immediately noticed the great content, as well as the style of the whole week, which proves that the connection between graphics and photography is very thin and guarantees a quality and creative outcome, just like it was the case with previous weeks of members with the same profession. No wonder the second most frequent profession among the Week of Life Masters is a graphic designer.

This week called ‘Ground-breaking’ is not only today’s selection, but also the 10 th week overall in Kristyna Fischlova’s collection. It is among a number of weeks that capture the ending of the year 2011 and the beginning of 2012. Everybody enjoys this time of the year in their own way. Some go out to party with others, others like to sit and watch TV while enjoying food of different kinds and a number of us like to travel to exotic destinations. Kristyna chose a very rare and unique way to celebrate this event. She decided to spend the end of the year in the wild, in a romantic cabin using candle light only. However, that is just a small piece from this exciting week, which offers much more than just this one day.

The Week of Life team gets together to pick the best or in some way interesting set twice ever week to select the Editor's Choice. Quite regularly, we focus on the newcomers that spice up the norms of an ongoing project with their own view on life. However, there are also long term members who have already been chosen once, but their weeks are of such quality that we cannot overlook them, granting these members the EC selection on multiple occasions. This is the case of Libor Klimek, a member who supplies us with weeks from Ireland and the most active photographer on WoL from this beautiful country. His work is of high quality and belongs amongst the best portfolios in the entire project. This time, Libor amazed us with the week named 'Christmas'.

It has been a year from the moment Mila Stafek was named a Week of Life master. His contributions to the project are only sporadic, which is a big shame. It took Mila more than a year to make a new week - he named it 'From the pit to Christmas'. The long wait was however immediately forgotten once we took a look at the result. The set is packed with amazing photographs. Just like the others, Mila too decided to document Christmas, but also managed to fit in the tough days at the mines. We can find several images from this environment that are exhibition material.

In its entire history, the Week of Life project has seen many married couples document their family life from different angles. It is usually the case that one or the other photographs just one week or more but with long breaks after joining their partner. There is however an exception and that is Jana Kasparkova. She started documenting their exciting family life along with her husband Kamil and hasn't stopped since, giving us the opportunity to not only see how their son is growing each day, but also how they spend each day of their life in marriage. Today, it is Jana's 27th week and it is rightfully selected for the Editor's Choice. Will she go on in the footsteps of her husband Kamil and document a full year of the Kasparek family? Only time will tell.
