Mé souznění s festivalem
Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has celebrated its 45th anniversary this year and the attendance was more than ample. Every year, the city of Karlovy Vary is a host to thousands of visitors who wish to see various genres of film, perhaps meet and even mingle with a celebrity at the bar, but most of all, enjoy themselves to the fullest extent. How does this ‘festival joyride’ look? This has been masterfully documented in the week of David Papanek, whose ordinary life crossed paths with life of a festival for several days; in a week where he captured his interconnection with the IFFKV festival, as he himself calls it, on celluloid film as well as in digital form, giving us the possibility to enjoy this festival rush in dual format.

Týden skoro celý na kolejích
How does a person live when his profession grants him the power to handle a several hundred tons colossal machine with bare hands and at the same time be responsible for tens of people’s lives? Even though his first week ranked amongst the more interesting sets, we did not really get to learn much about the life of train operator Roman Jaroš, who documented his travels to Morocco. He then stopped contributing for some time and it goes without saying that his comeback in form of documenting ordinary life was more than a success. Roman is gifted not only in the matters of joy and sense of humor, but was also given a great photographic talent, proudly represented in his Week ‘on the tracks’.

Today, we would like to highlight the black and white art of Jan Nožička, who will most likely never stop amazing us with his creativity and playfulness. The way he documented his last two weeks of life only confirms the fact that we are dealing with a Master of Photography here, able to ‘speak’ in colors, as well as in b&w implementation. No other words are necessary, perhaps only: ‘Feast your eyes’.

Týden, kdy začalo léto
Weeks of Romek Hanzlík were interesting the instant they appeared in the project, since the journey across different concert halls allowed us to travel to distant lands and admire their beauty. Even though Romek’s life is not currently filled with musical tours, he does not waste time and explores the enticement of family life in his homeland; and that is what satisfies us the most. His steps were initially insecure, however nowadays, every new week brings forth an original and exciting experience. Romek is an exceptionally active person and we hope that he will keep to his tradition and excite us with new diverse events and occurrances in the future.

A week full of art, good food and drinks, along with a fair amount of ice hockey cheering. All of this and more is included in the second visit to life of student Pavlína Prokůpková, who first introduced herself while visiting relatives in New York. This time, we had the chance to see her in company of her friends and while experiencing those moments in life that are said to be ‘common’, but at the same time so exciting and very important to us. We can only wonder about where she’ll take us next.
