Life on Earth through the eyes of its inhabitans

Iceland has been labeled as the country with the highest suicide rate. One wonders about the irony, mainly due to the beauties and rareness of the Icelandic nature. Perhaps the weather shares a part of the guilt, having the tendency to change in a very short span of time. Nevertheless, in his week of life, Johannes Frank has showed us the brighter side of the island. The Icelandic people are however also known for one of their more peculiar habits. They tend to sniff and snivel, ignoring the invention of the handkerchief, quite humorously shown in this selected photo.

Photos of Juraj Sucharda hide one little surprise. We can fully appreciate them only after we open them in full view, because only then we can fully enjoy them in their raw beauty. Mr Sucharda focused on details of everyday life and with tenderness so typical for him he managed to create a complete week that not just maps his life but it also brings very enjoyable photos to watch.

Balance fined-tuned by emotions. This could be a characteristics of Martina Stlbova’s week. She introduced us into her life for the second time already and she confirmed that her female hand can handle the camera very well. Artistic photos nicely blend with documentary photos with an attention to detail and expressions in faces of people around her. All this nicely adds to a sensitive week that is a pleasure to watch.

There is no doubt about Mr. Zdeněk Dvořák’s photography skills. There is no reason to emphasize that all weeks from Mr. Dvořák have something special that makes them unforgettable. But today, he is in Editor’s choice for a different reason. We appreciate that even though he captured so many weeks, he still keeps in mind the Week of Life guidelines. It is important to be aware of the main idea of this project. And Mr. Dvořák is very well aware of that. Week of Life is not just fun, it is above all a mission.

In recent days, it is like a wave of a magic wand and weeks from People's Republic of China multiple. We understand that not all the weeks fulfill the Week of Life requirements, but despite this we picked Mr Suns’ week for Editor’s choice. His photos are magical and he took us to places that are for most of us very remote and distant. We are talking about Lhasa, traditional place in Tibet, where one can find a landmark of a world heritage, the Potala palace.
